Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-06-17
By using LiveCaptionIt ("the service"), you agree to the following terms.
1. Service description
LiveCaptionIt is a free, browser-based live captioning tool. It runs the Whisper speech-recognition model directly in your browser and never uploads audio to remote servers.
2. Acceptable use
You agree to use LiveCaptionIt for lawful purposes only and not to caption audio you do not have the right to record or transcribe. You are responsible for complying with all applicable recording-consent and copyright laws in your jurisdiction.
3. No warranty
The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Caption accuracy depends on the source audio quality, your hardware, and the Whisper model's training. LiveCaptionIt is not a substitute for professional transcription where accuracy is legally required.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shrestha Tripathi is not liable for any damages arising from your use of LiveCaptionIt, including but not limited to errors in transcription, missed words, or any decision made based on the captions.
5. Open source
LiveCaptionIt is open source. You can review the code at https://github.com/shrestha-tripathi/livecaptionit. Self-hosting and forks are permitted under the MIT license.
6. Changes
We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
